Quotes July 2 2010

“I pledge to never commit U.S. troops to any conflict I would not be willing to fight for myself, will only commit troops after Congress has voted on a declaration of war; and upon my vote in favor of war, will resign my position in order to enlist in the armed forces.” -Nathan Dahm

“At the heart of the problem is the fact that government is a monopoly. And the solution is for you to restore my freedom to choose. Ending the Federal Reserve’s monopoly control over what I use for money is a good place to start.” -Liberty Maven

“I am extraordinarily pleased to announce the opening of Euro Pacific Precious Metals, LLC. (www.europacmetals.com) This new company, of which I am Chief Executive Officer, will offer physical delivery of gold and silver coins and bullion at competitive prices. The company will be based on my reputation for integrity, straight talk, and fair dealing.” -Peter Schiff

“Today is the official release date for my new book, Nullification: How to Resist Federal Tyranny in the 21st Century. Nullification, as many readers of this site already know, refers to the power of a state to refuse to enforce an unconstitutional federal law. Most Americans have never heard of the idea, or know of it only in caricature – which is pretty much the way the New York Times likes it.” – Tom Woods

“Defiance is the DNA of America. Every fiber of my being is overdosed on high-octane defiance. I often rise in the morning convinced that I am Rosa Parks with a loud guitar. It is beautiful.” – Ted Nugent

The War is Making You Poor Act on GovTrack.us and Open Congress

“…eliminates separate funding for the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, and eliminates federal income taxes for everyone’s first $35,000 of income ($70,000 for couples). Plus it pays down the national debt.” -Alan Grayson

See HR1495, HR4995, HR3217

“Our package includes legislation introduced by Congressman Ron Paul and Congressman John Shadegg. The cornerstone is Ron Paul’s H.R. 1495, the Comprehensive Health Care Reform Act of 2009, which provides all Americans with a tax credit for 100% of health care expenses… Also included are Ron Paul’s H.R. 4995, a bill that prevents the government from requiring people to purchase health insurance, and John Shadegg’s H.R. 3217, which permits the purchase of health insurance across state lines and will ultimately lower costs due to the resulting competition.” -CFL

See 1207 on GovTrack and 604 on OpenCongress

“Since its inception in 1913, the Federal Reserve has helped to devalue our dollar by 95%… HR 1207.. and S 604.. will demand full transparency from the Federal Reserve for the first time in history by removing all restrictions from Government Accountability Office (GAO) audits of the Fed and mandating an audit by the end of 2010.” -CFL

“…provides news of the grassroots campaign to restore our healthcare freedom under the Constitution by nullification of ObamaCare at the state level, repeal at the federal level, then restoring free market healthcare.” – CFSOC

HR4995

“Forcing every American to obtain a congressionally-approved health insurance plan is not just unconstitutional; it is a violation of the basic freedom to make our own decisions regarding how best to meet the health care needs of ourselves and our families.” -Ron Paul

Quotes June 29 2010

Editor selected quotations:

On individual liberty:

It is individuals, and not entities, who reason and act, and if there is to be any earnest discussion on the topic of individual freedom, it seems it must of a necessity include discussion of individual culpability, as well…It is time to put to rest the claim that libertarianism and free market capitalism are solely concerned with a powerful elite, profiting at the expense of masses. It is time for liberty and responsibility to again walk hand in hand. -Joshua Pelton-Stroud

On federal power:

An honest reading of the Constitution with an original understanding of the Founders and Ratifiers makes it quite clear that the federal government has no constitutional authority to override state laws on marijuana. All three branches of the federal government, however, have interpreted (and re-interpreted) the commerce clause of the Constitution to authorize them to engage in this activity, even though there’s supposedly no ‘legal’ commerce in the plant. At best, these arguments are dubious; at worst an intentional attack on the Constitution and your liberty. -Michael Boldin

On BP and the oil spill:

…when someone defends BP’s right to due process its right not to have the government intimidate $20 billion out of them, that is not a defens of BP’s behavior in the gulf is it? BP should pay for all the damage it caused, but it should pay for it under the law – not under some ad hoc system that the President and the Vice President just concocted for this crisis. -Judge Andrew Napolitano

What I don’t like is big business and government being in bed together… BP is not a free market company… they depend on our military and they depend on us and they like cap and trade… I’m very suspicious of the whole mess. -Ron Paul
